The Founder of Morning Star Clinic, Mrs Blessing Yakubu has called on the government and stakeholders in the health sector to reduce maternal and child mortality in the country.
She stated this during a free medical outreach program.
Mrs Yakubu said the program was carried out to improve the health of the people in Byazhin across Kubwa.
The Founder of Morning Star Clinic also added that maternal mortality is one of the critical issues the country is facing at the moment.
“We are urging pregnant women to always attend antenatal service. We want them to place priority on their health while pregnant. The resident in the area suffered child labour and sometimes before getting to the general hospital, the person may have passed. We need to stabilize patients in critical situations before referring them to General hospital”.
She further added that the outreach is to promote antenatal registration and treatment before delivery, and also to carry out free malaria, Typhoid, HIV, and other diseases tests for free to motivate the people of the community on the need for tests and regular medical check-ups.
” Since the beginning of the free medical outreach, the rate of mortality death has reduced drastically. We want the good people of Nigeria and the government to support this good gesture of the mission to reach out to the other communities around”.
Speaking at the event, one of the beneficiaries, Hadiza Hassan, said the clinic is giving hope to the hopeless.
Another beneficiary, Haruna Kadijat added that she has learnt a lot during the small lecture organized for them by the foundation on the sign and symptoms of diseases like cancer, HIV, hypertension and the rest of them.
More than a Thousand of the residents of the community turned out in large numbers to partake in the free medical exercise.
