The All Progressive Congress Candidate in Ekiti State elections, Biodun Oyebanji, has emerged the winner of the Ekiti State Governorship Election.
INEC declared him winner at the early hours on Sunday, after the collation of votes from all the LGAs of the states.
Oyebanji scored a total of 187,057 votes, followed by SDP candidate with 82,211 votes and the PDP candidate took the third place with 67,457 votes.
This showed that APC has become the first ruling party to hand over to a successor of the same party.
However, only 363,438 accredited voters were accreditated as polling units opened at about 8:30 am and closed at 2:30 pm.
The PDP Governorship candidate Bisi Kolawole commended INEC for the election successs, while also calling for improvement on the areas that need improvement, and added that the security agencies created a peaceful and serene environment for good conduct of the election.
Furthermore, SDP governorship candidate said although the BVAS has about 1% issues, but the INEC officials were not involved in any election malpractice or forging of result.
“Adding that INEC is not to blame for votes selling and buying by electorate and the party members, but that the blame has shifted to the law enforcement agencies and that in this case there is no victim.
Meanwhile, the ADP Governorship candidate complained of vote buying and that the INEC official is his unit compromised by delaying the starting of the election until 10 am.
” Whatever is the out come of the election, some of our action shows that the we are not ready for democracy. Even with the little issues the people remain peaceful.”
