A group, Transparency Watch, has urged aspirants who lost in All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary in Akwa Ibom to back the winner, Akanimo Udofia.
It urged the aspirants to collapse their structures into one to enable the party clinch the governorship.
A statement by its spokesman, George Emmanuel, said since Udofia won, the thing to do is to support him in the interest of the state.
incumbent on aspirants, including Senators Ita Enang, Akpan Udoedehe and Prof. Chris Ekong, to bury the hatchet and kick Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) out of power.
“In a contest such as this, only one person can win and, what is more, those who have lost can wintomorrow. The 2023 governorship election is a contest with deep implications for the future of Akwa Ibom, and all APC members must sheathe their swords and work together as one body…
“We urge contestants to show to Akwa Ibomites they are ready to make the state APC-governed in 2023. They should set up campaign committees to usher in a government of the people, a government that will bring transformation …”
