The new Director General of the National Youth Service Corp, Brigadier General Mohammad Fada have called on the staff of the organization and corp members to support his administration in moving the scheme forward.
The 19th Director General of the scheme made the disclosure during the handing over ceremony at the NYSC Headquarter in Abuja.
He urged the corp members to accord him the same respect they give to General Shuaibu, the outgoing director general.
“I want you all to come up with new innovations that will improve the scheme.I will not listen to gossip from any quarters but rather for all of us to come together and be the best in our area of endeavours.”
The Incoming DG commended the Senate President for giving him the opportunity to serve in the position of leadership.
“The outgoing DG has left a big mark in the affairs of NYSC, and I will surely meet up to the responsibility.” he added.
The Out going Director General Major General Ibrahim Shuaibu, appreciated President Buhari and the the Senate leadership for giving him opportunity to serve the country.
He said running the NYSC has been one of the most challenging, and most rewarding experiences of his life.
“It was indeed, an opportunity to make impact, not only on the graduate youths entrusted to us for mentorship, but also on the socio-economic development of our dear country.”
“During my tenure I was able to pursue a technologically-driven organization to deepen effective service delivery.We were able to improve the welfare and security of Corps members and staff”.
“We were also able to strengthen existing collaboration with stakeholders. At the same time, we were able to reinvigorate the NYSC Ventures and Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Programme (SAED) in line with the NYSC Act for greater impact.”
He called on the incoming Director Gener al to give the team members the necessary support to move the scheme forward.
Major laudable feats performed by the outgoing Director General include the establishment of the NYSC Radio station transmitting on 88.3 FM in Abuja, and the Establishment of the NYSC Television running on TStv Channel 365.
