The Movement for free and fair elections has strongly advised the Police high authority, DSS and the Niger state government to hold the Emir of Suleija responsible if violence erupts in the emirate, as a result of his imposition tactics against popular choice and demands of party faithful in the selection party candidate in the APC.
The Director of intelligence of the group stated that the first class Emir has reduced the esteemness of the traditional institution in Suleija to nothing.
Awwal Usman emphasised that this involvement of the Emir on imposition of candidate has overtime deprived the emirate of development in all facets.
“It is when the choice of the people is allowed to fly party flag that dividends of democracy can be achieved. The various security agencies must act now before it is too late. We don’t want to repeat the era of political abracadabra.”
The newly elected APC chairman should please intervene inthe interest of peace especially on the APC state House of Assembly ticket for Suleija and other ones.
The traditional institution is supposed to be apolitical in order to serve as a meeting point for all candidates and political office holders but the partiality of the Emir by even making open request on who should be given party ticket is abnormal and detrimental to political development.
The Emir as a second Republic Governor under late Shehu Shagari should know better than anyone.
The Niger state APC,Zonal headquarters as well as the national office should please not sweep this cautionary intimation under the carpet as it can go a long way to reduce and avert crisis.
But when ignored, the entire Suleija could experience political unrest. At this period of armed banditry and insurgency inthe state,no one will be happy if the peace of Suleija is breached.
