The President of the federal republic of Nigeria has proceeded to London, the United kingdom on his medical check up which will last for two weeks.
The Presidential spokeperson, Femi Adesina, made this announcement while stating that the president would head for UK after attending the United Nations events in Kenya.
Adesina said that to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the United Nations environmental Programme, the president will depart Abuja on Tuesday for the attendance of the UNEP at 50.
“This is supposed to hold from 3rd to 4th of March 2022 in Nairobi, Kenya sequel to the invitation extended to him by his Kenya counterpart, Uhuru Kenyatta.”
Adesina also said that President Muhammadu Buhari will be accompanied to the programme in Nairobi with Geoffrey Oyeama the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sharon Ikeazor, the minister for state of the environment, Maj. Gen. Banahana Monguno rtd the National security Adviser, Amb. Ahmed Rufia Abubakar, the Director General National Intelligence Agency and Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the chief Executive Officer of Nigerians in Diaspora.
The President is expected to deliver the National statement of the country and participate in high level dialogue sessions on the Environment at the event tagged: “Strengthening UNDP for the Implementation of the environmental dimension of the 2030 agenda for sustainable development”.
According to the organizers of the event, for 50 years, UNEP has coordinated a worldwide effort with member State to address the world’s biggest environmental challenges.
He also added that at 50, UNEP reflects on the past and envision the future. It provides an opportunity to reinvigorate international cooperation and spur collective action to address the triple planetary crisis of climate change, nature and biodiversity loss, pollution and waste. As no country or continent can solve these global crisis alone but each nation has a crucial role to play in protecting our people and planet” .
