Following his side hard-fought win over Liberia, Gernot Rohr disclosed that the return of Wilfred Ndidi and Alex Iwobi has added impetus to the team.
Ndidi and Iwobi started as Rohr’s team defeated Liberia 2-0 in a FIFA World Cup qualifying match played in Morroco on Saturday.
The Premier League stars missed the last International break, and the Eagles slumped to a shocking defeat against the Central African Republic in Lagos.
“I think that the return of some players like Wilfred Ndidi and Alex Iwobi who did not play last month’s qualifiers against the Central African Republic is a very good thing for the Super Eagles,” Rohr said in Saturday’s post-match conference.
Meanwhile, The Super Eagles struggled to break down the Lone Stars and managed to get the three points from the penalty spot.
Rohr admitted, the performance isn’t good enough and stated they have a lot of work to do.
“I admit that we really need to work on our attacking play, there is still a lot of work to do.”
“So, we are happy with the victory, we knew before the match that it would be difficult to beat Liberia. We saw the videos of their games to have lost in the last minutes when they deserved to have got a draw.
“But I am happy that we did not concede any goal. Whether penalty or not, I am very happy that we won the game and picked up all the three points on offer.” The Franco-German stated.
