Some residents of Wushishi Crescent in Utako have condemned the criminal invasion, breakage, vandalism, theft and threat to lives on Saturday the 23rd of October, 2021, in the morning at about 7am.
The group called on government to help fight for their rights.
The residents of the house added that a retired Nigerian Navy personnel, and a self acclaimed caretaker of the house brought thugs numbering about forty (40) into the terrace building and broke into the respective rooms, removed the doors, windows, and parts of the roof using sledge hammers and other sophisticated tools.
“They carted away those doors and windows in a truck and exposed our lives and belongings to dangers of malicious attacks, theft, vandalism and harsh weather. They also disconnected our lights and water supply. They came in full military camouflage uniform but without name tags, ranks and service numbers making them appear as fake soldiers.”
“The house is a four (4) bedroom terrace building composed of four (4) flats with two (2) room boys’ quarters each. There is an unnamed company that recently occupied one of the flats after the last occupant vacated and is operating discretely without signboard so the nature of their business is shady. They also have illegally converted the residential apartment into a commercial place without any formal approval and that is why they did not erect a signboard to indicate that they are doing a legal business. “
According to one of the witness, during the raid, the person that brought the company into the house was identified and was seen coordinating the destructions and lootings of belongings, but did not allow the thugs to touch anything belonging to the company.
” They stole our phones, computer laptops, wrist watches, jewelleries, clothes, shoes, other valuables as well as various amounts of money in cash and threatened to kill us if we resisted them, so we could only watch and take pictures and videos of their actions.”
