Christians from all walk of life in Nigeria have been admonished to draw close to Christ and stop searching for miracles from one denomination to another.
Ven. Dr Tope Tapero disclosed this at the opening session of the 4th Synod of St Timothy Anglican church, Idiroko Sango Ota.
He urged Christians to always seek a deeper and meaningful relationship with God.
“This generation has to seek for the things of God and worship him from a genuine heart. When we know God truthfully in every area of our life, we will begin to do exploits. Most people now do not know how to have a connection with God. They prefer running from one church to another. The Bible said that the people that know their God shall be strong and they shall do exploits.”
“The people in the church today are engaging in characters that are not Christlike in nature.
Where is the strength, where is the exploit?
When you do not have the strength you cannot experience exploits. People are busy pursuing their agenda. Christians are busy now pleasing church leaders, and not minding how to please our saviour Jesus Christ”.
The clergyman also admonished men of God to lead their congregation to the path of truth and righteousness.
“Jesus Christ urged his believers to worship him in truth and the spirit. He charged us that the power of the new covenant is to write the law in our hearts. The power of the new testament encouraged each believer to know the law of God by themselves and practise it daily.”
In addition, Ven. Tapero challenged church leaders to always inculcate the art of worship in their day to day service.
“Pastors and members should not easily get distracted when they are in the presence of God. The congregation should praise God from a genuine heart. We should not forget that God is the central purpose of our life.
Jesus Christ should be the centre of our Joy. We should not serve him because we are looking for employment, financial breakthrough, marriage partner or fruit of the womb.”
” As a family of faith, we should offer to God true praise from the fruits of our lip. We should lift our soul in praising God, telling people of his love, his power, his glory and his wondrous acts in our life.
This is one of the ways through which we can acknowledge the sovereignty of God.
We should appreciate his Lordship over our lives through deep confession of his love towards us at all times”.
He further urged those who are passing through life challenges to have absolute faith in God that He will answer their prayers.
“Jesus Christ in the holy bible said, come to me all you who are heavy-hearted, and you will find rest. Stop believing in men of God that they are the ones that will perform miracles. Rather look unto God the author and finisher of faith to answer your prayers and supplications. He will surely give you rest on all sides.”
