The Director-General, National Information Development Agency (NITDA), Mallam Inuwa Abdullahi, Tuesday, urged Nigerian youths to continuously embrace innovations to build capacity and impact the country positively.
The DG made the call during the EdTech Summit organized by AFRITEX in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Education in Abuja.
Abdullahi, who was represented by the AG-Director Corporate Planning and Strategy NITDA, Dr. Aristotle Onumo, explained that the world of innovation is full of uncertainty, adding that it is only youths who are able to translate their innovative ideas to create value will eventually become winners in the competitive environment, where idea driven enterprises has remained the future of the common man.
The DG therefore encouraged young innovators not to be discouraged, stating that what may appear to be an unfavourable environment, upon which they operate, is actually an environment with a creative tension that is required to spearhead a new innovation.
He added that “If you continue in this strength, with the support agencies like NITDA are providing at this particular time, I want to assure that the sky will be your limit. Young innovators I want to encourage you once again not to always think like an entrepreneur but think like a psychologist.
“When you think like a psychologist you will be able to discover the social needs and emotional needs. Your solutions will be able to satisfy; there is always a job to be done. What solution will do the Job is an answer through your creative and innovative capability.”
He however, commended the Afritex for piloting the innovative summit, as it comes at a time where the country needs various steps to diversify the economy.
