The Association of Professional Women Engineer of Nigeria( APWEN) Abuja chapter, has rewarded three women with 100, 120, and 160 litres of water reserved buckets in Tunga, a suburb near Zuba in Gwagwalada area council of FCT.
The chairman of the APWEN Abuja chapter, Engr. F.B Dare Bello, made the disclosure on the commemoration of World Water Day celebration in Abuja.
The theme of event was ” water value, water use and water management.
Speaking at the event, she noted that shortage of water supply mostly affect women and growing children, which propel her association to engage in corporate social responsibility (CSR) to ease access to water in the community.
She added that the women were taught on how to mitigate the effect of water shortage , and also the act of water management.
” We sensitize them on the use of water, and how it can be use to address the issue of sanitation and hygiene. We taught them on how to manage the little they get in order to reduce the effect of water shortage in their environment, pending the time it would totally be addressed”.
Ten women among others went into competition about water management. They washed all their dirty clothes, pots and plates using the little water they have in their possession.
The winner of the water management competition went home with with a surprise gift of 160 litres of water reserved buckets.
The World Water day is usually celebrated every year to highlight the importance of water in our day to day activities.
