The Arewa Youth For Peace and Security has called on the FCT Minister, Mallam Muhammadu Bello, and legislative aides to allocate more fund, for the management of essential services agencies in the Federal Capital Territory .
While also calling on government to embark on mass recruitment, so as to cushion the effect of casual staff in some agencies that carries out essential services in the Federal Capital Territory.
The group made a Clarion call to the FCT Minister and the the Senate House Committee members on FCT, to allocate more resources into the essential agencies.
The Director of Publicity, Arewa Youth For Peace and Security, Salihu Dantata Mahmud, urged the FCT administration to deviate from the use of casual staff in the government agencies.
” At a time when the government is fighting corruption, there is no need to use casual staff , as it can tarnish the image of the government “.
Mahmud added that allocating more funding into essential agencies such as the Directorate of Road Transport Services, Parks and Recreation services, and Abuja Environmental Agency will improve the standard of living of the residents.
” Most of the agencies are under funded, and should be critically looked into so as to make positive change. Initially , they were under the Federal Capital Ministry , until they were later changed into the Federal Capital Territory Administration”.
In the same vein, he called on the Federal Capital Administration Authority to procure vegetational truck for the Park and Recreation maintainance.
“There is an urgent need for the government to procure vegetational trucks that will ease the work of the staff. One truck can do the work of 3 Hilux at the same time”.
