As part of measures of bringing attention to reportage and analysis of conflict and peace-building which will drive good governance in West Africa, Democracy and Development Journal has been reintroduced.
The Centre for Democracy and Development in a statement highlighted that “in this way, Democracy and Development Journal reinforces CDD’s commitment to framing the discourse and encouraging engagement on socio-political and economic issues that continue to impinge on democracy and development in West Africa.”
“Published twice in (June and December) annually, Democracy and Development: Journal of West African Affairs is the flagship publication of the Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD). “
“It was firstly conceived and launched in the late 1990s, the journal, after taking the West African development cosmos by storm, went into a yearslong hiatus in order to rethink its raison detre and retool itself to meet the challenges of a sub-region in the throes of rapid change.”
The Centre noted that the journal’s dedication to informed commentary on the dynamic interaction of democracy and development in the West African sub-region and beyond remains unchanged. “Democracy and Development is committed to being the hub for sophisticated analyses of issues affecting democratic and developmental evolution in West Africa, and welcomes essays and reviews from scholar-practitioners on issues under this broad rubric.”
“In focusing on the interaction of democracy and development in West Africa, the journal specifically aims at illuminating the practical problems that have inhibited democratic reforms. “
